Jan received the award for his debut recording released by Supraphon, featuring music by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky, Alexander Scriabin, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The result reflects not only the decision of the expert jury, but also strong support from listeners who voted for the recording.
The award ceremony took place at Kings Place in London. Jan Schulmeister performed Scriabin’s Étude in C sharp minor, included on the award winning album. When accepting the award, he expressed gratitude to the audience as well as to his teachers and collaborators.
„Being recognised in this way is something I could hardly have imagined, and I accept it with sincere gratitude and humility. My heartfelt thanks go to all the listeners who took the time to vote for me.“
The Karel Komárek Family Foundation provided Jan with educational and performance opportunities with the aim of systematically developing his musical abilities. Through the scholarship programme, the young artist gained mentoring support as well as opportunities to perform at top international concerts.
