The founder, Karel Komárek, accompanied by his wife Štěpánka, has accepted honorary citizenship of the town of Hodonín. He received the recognition for his long‑standing contribution to the development of the town and for supporting a high quality of life for its residents. Through their family foundation, the Komáreks have long been involved, among other things, in the restoration of the public space of the Bažantnice area, which was damaged by the tornado in June 2021.

Karel Komárek received the town’s highest form of recognition from Mayor Libor Střecha. In the town’s history, the award has only been granted three times. As a Hodonín native, the entrepreneur and philanthropist has a strong connection to the town.

Through his philanthropic and private activities, he supports projects focused on public space, culture, and sport. Together with his wife Štěpánka, he demonstrated extraordinary solidarity especially after the devastating tornado, when in June 2021 he provided aid amounting to CZK 150 million.

After the ceremonial presentation of honorary citizenship, the Komáreks toured the town hall building and the town hall tower. They then visited Bažantnice to attend the ceremonial opening of U Červených domků Park and to learn about the current status of the varied projects.

The town is very grateful for the cooperation with the Karel Komárek Family Foundation, due to which Hodonín has been able to double its original plan from 2021, which included 12 projects, in the following years. The town has therefore worked, or is currently working, on 24 projects with a total value of CZK 788 million.
