Jan Schulmeister

Jan is one of the most successful young pianists of his generation. He has been winning awards at national and international competitions since the age of seven.

Jan has taken home more than forty first prizes or overall victories from piano competitions across Europe and the United States. Among his greatest achievements is the 3rd prize at one of the world’s most prestigious competitions – The 2023 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition in Dallas – which placed him among the most closely watched young talents on the global piano scene. Thanks to his competition success, he has the opportunity to collaborate with leading orchestras and has performed with: the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Brno Philharmonic, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice, and the ensemble Barocco sempre giovane.

Jan performs not only on Czech stages but also abroad, including: Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Spain, and North Macedonia. His artistic work also includes intensive chamber music collaboration, especially with violinist Daniel Matejča and the Wihan Quartet. He regularly appears at major music festivals such as: Dvořákova Praha, Prague Spring, Smetana’s Litomyšl, Svátky hudby, the Chopin Festival Mariánské Lázně, and Hudba v zahradách a zámku Kroměříž.

In 2018, he became a member of the PETROF Art Family. He is a scholarship holder of the Karel Komárek Family Foundation, and in the 2018/2019 season he participated in the MenART scholarship programme organised by the Magdalena Kožená Endowment Fund.

Jan’s artistic journey to date is documented in six albums released by PETROF and ArcoDiva. He recently recorded two debut albums for the prestigious label SUPRAPHON, further confirming his exceptional talent and artistic maturity.

Music is my passion. It has the power to affect all movements of the mind, to enchant, to bewitch. I wish for the audience at my concerts to forget their everyday worries and be transported into the beautiful and colorful world of music. My dream is also to collaborate with orchestras and conductors in addition to solo concerts, where the collective effort of so many people united by one common goal creates a spectacular experience
