First Lady Olena Zelenská was warmly welcomed by the Director General of the National Library of the Czech Republic Tomáš Foltýn and the Minister of Culture Martin Baxa. Together they presented her with current projects and international initiatives that support Ukrainian culture and education.
The visit also included a presentation of the Ark I project, a mobile conservation workplace designed to preserve Ukrainian documentary heritage. This mobile workplace will focus on the conservation of rare manuscripts, books, archival documents and other printed materials that have been damaged during the conflict or are threatened by external conditions. Such a conservation centre ensures that a valuable part of Ukraine's heritage is preserved for future generations in the best possible condition.
First Lady Olena Zelenska had the opportunity to see the restoration equipment and try out specific tools used in the restoration of written monuments.
"I consider the Ark project meaningful also because supporting culture is one of the central themes of KKFF's activities. We have been supporting Ukraine for a long time. When we regularly hear about Russia's destruction of Ukrainian culture, we see the need for Ark even more urgently. I hope that our initiative will become an example for the whole world of how we can preserve tangible cultural heritage in a modern way," said Luboš Veselý, Director of the KKFF Foundation.
We thank all those who together with us are helping to preserve Ukrainian cultural heritage for future generations.
