On the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the devastating tornado that struck South Moravia in June 2021, the first edition of the climate conference Life After the Element – Urban and Rural Resilience as a Climate Challenge was held in Hodonín on 17–18 June 2025..

WHEN

17–18 June, 2025

WHERE

17 June: Evropa Hall, Národní třída 21, Hodonín, 18 June: House of Nature Hodonínská Dúbrava, Lipová alej 19, Hodonín

The conference was organized by People in Need and the city of Hodonín as part of the Hodonín Climate Days, which took place from 25 May to 24 June 2025. The goal of the conference was to create a platform for sharing experiences and expert knowledge on post‑disaster recovery, climate change mitigation, adaptation, and strategic climate planning.

Our foundation has been actively involved in the long‑term recovery of Hodonín. Immediately after the tornado, we provided emergency assistance to affected families and later expanded our support through long‑term initiatives. We financially support the recovery of affected parts of Hodonín through the large‑scale project Bažantnice Lives! This includes several sub‑projects such as the Nature House, the restoration of the U Červených domků park, the expansion of the sports complex, the revitalization of the suburban forest park, and the construction of a children's town. These activities not only contribute to tornado recovery but also support the city’s development and strengthen its resilience to future climate challenges.
