The reconstruction of the children’s village in the Bažantnice area in Hodonín, which was destroyed by a tornado in 2021, is progressing successfully. The foundation has supported the reconstruction from the very beginning — both financially and through expert assistance.

Since the start of construction in January 2025, the entire area has been significantly transformed. Wooden cabins, which will serve as clubhouses and facilities for leisure activities for children and youth, have already been built. Work is now underway on their interiors and technical equipment.

At the same time, construction continues on the main building, which will become the centerpiece of the entire site and serve as a base for the whole area. Final adjustments are being made to the design of the forest club building, also known as “the den.”

In addition to the clubhouses, the area will offer a sports field with a tartan surface, a gazebo with a grill, and a storage facility. Other paved surfaces, lighting, and fencing of the area will also be built. The entire project is expected to be completed by mid‑2026.

Through this project, the Karel Komárek Family Foundation is making a significant contribution to the renewal of this unique location, which can become a place for community and educational activities for children and the wider public. In addition to the children’s village, the foundation is also involved in other projects, including a sports complex and a park in front of the U Červených domků primary school.

The village primarily served children who engaged in leisure activities here. And that was our main focus. We want the area to be a pleasant and modern environment where all visitors feel comfortable.
