Kindergarten teachers from Hradec Králové and Karlovy Vary, representatives of the founder, and other guests will head out on a one‑day field trip on Thursday, 19 March, to kindergartens whose gardens serve as a natural environment for outdoor learning. The visit will offer inspiration, space for sharing hands on experience, and examples of how the concept The school garden as a living classroom can be used in the everyday life of a kindergarten.

WHEN

19 March 2026

WHERE

Větrník Kindergarten in Nymburk, St. Jakub Church Kindergarten in Kutná Hora, Telecí Kindergarten

Participants will visit two of the foundation’s partner kindergartens, Větrník Kindergarten in Nymburk and St. Jakub Church Kindergarten in Kutná Hora, as well as Telecí Kindergarten, the foundation’s educational centre. The main part of the programme will be guided tours of the gardens led by the headteachers and lead teachers from each school.

They will show how they use the gardens as a fully‑fledged space for the educational process and how everyday kindergarten life takes place there. The tours will also include time for participants’ questions and an open discussion focused on specific practical experience.

The meeting creates an opportunity for sharing experience among teachers and other actors in education. Teachers from Krušnohorská Kindergarten in Karlovy Vary, which is only preparing for the transformation of its garden, as well as students from the University of Hradec Králové, will also take part. The field trip will offer a chance to see different approaches to working with a school garden and to discuss how to use it as a natural part of education.

The programme in the kindergartens is prepared by the foundation, which will also provide participants with supporting materials. The technical organisation is ensured by the founding body, which is preparing the event as part of cooperation within the Transformations of Gardens programme of the Karel Komárek Family Foundation.
