Elementary and Kindergarten School in Prague‑Koloděje

We embedded the footprint of the kind Uncle Koloděj into the garden. It takes the form of a red wavy path that connects the entire garden and guides visitors on a symbolic journey through history and the landscape. Children particularly enjoy riding their scooters along it regularly.

If you want to support this project, you can do so as a volunteer.

About the Transformation

What we achieved

We divided the space into four zones, each associated with one of the elements. Children can safely experiment with elements of water, fire, air, and earth. Human cohesion and the connection between people, nature, and history are symbolized by the concrete path. A wetland, pond, and system of water channels invite children to garden play with water and to observe small creatures.

More about the transformation

Approximately 150 children use the outdoor classroom with a wooden deck, adorned with a huge oak trunk reminiscent of a wooden ship. Both structures were made from oaks sourced directly from the Koloděje game reserve. They are the work of Koloděje native Jaroslav E. Dvořák and landscape architect Stanislav Špoula. A central gathering place is the stone fire pit area with seating.
