Timofey Golev

Timofey Golev is a young musician and writer whose artistic range spans from contemporary classical music, to jazz, and to improvisation. His work blends original invention, multi‑instrumental experience, and a keen feel for musical and literary language.

In 2023 Timofey became the overall winner of the national composition competition organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. A year later he presented his piece Nema Deum at the Music Without Borders festival.

In 2025 Timofey captivated audiences at the opening of Prague Spring with the world premiere of two of his own preludes performed on piano. He also appears actively as an instrumentalist. With the ensemble Deaf Platypus he opened the concert series of the Jazzbit festival. He has also performed in collaborations with the Museum of Literature and the magazine Revue Prostor.

Timofey does not only compose music but also writes poetry. His texts have been published in several anthologies and journals. He regularly takes part in author readings and received awards in both the poem and composition categories at the Face2Art competition. He further develops his artistic activities through the MenART scholarship academy in Beata Hlavenková’s authors’ section.

Achievements

  • Opening of the Prague Spring conference including the world premiere of two works 2025
  • Overall winner in the national round of the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports composition competition 2023
  • First place in the poem category of the Face2Art competition – Jiří Žáček 2021
  • First place in the composition category of the Face2Art competition – Vlastislav Matoušek 2023

Exploring music, poetry, and improvisation is my most immediate way to confront myself and to speak naturally to the listener’s imagination — to support it or, conversely, to shift and enrich it. Continually honing my artistic language is therefore essential to me. I want to examine music from every angle and learn to show how it can help us understand freedom, whether through jazz and improvisation or classical music.
