Kindergarten U Uranie

The largest preschool facility in Prague 7 now boasts a garden reflecting the diverse landscapes of the Czech countryside, with our support. Different zones—designed to resemble a tranquil forest, meadow, mountains, or lake—seamlessly blend into the urban environment.

If you want to support this project, you can do so as a volunteer.

About the Transformation

What we have achieved

The garden, redesigned to represent the four seasons, harmoniously combines natural motifs with artificial elements typical of dense urban areas. On the noise‑reducing concrete wall, we installed animal‑shaped boards for children to draw on. Adjacent tiered "rooms" invite children to hide, play, and relax. The central part of the garden features a wave‑shaped climbing structure designed by artist Lenka Klodová. Children also enjoy swinging or testing their strength and agility on ground‑level climbing frames and a climbing wall.

Our wish is for children to perceive the diversity of the landscape in which they live. The urban environment, with all its possibilities, is of course important to them. But we also want to bring them closer to typical natural landscapes with fields, meadows, forests, water bodies, and other features.

More about the transformation

The transformation helped integrate the garden space with the school's daily educational activities. The garden has become a place offering continuous opportunities for discovery and exploration. In the bustling Prague district of Holešovice, the space supports children's play while also presenting various challenges in overcoming obstacles and solving problems. The school has chosen to focus on building a relationship with the environment, making this space ideal for environmental education. The garden's funding was also supported by the Prague 7 district and parents.
